Description
The Aboriginal Language Specialist program is designed to train students in Aboriginal language instruction, Aboriginal language planning, and interpreting and translation.

This program will train fluent Algonquian speakers (Cree, Ojibwe, Oji-Cree and Michif) in translating and interpreting in a variety of settings. Students interested in or familiar with an Algonquian language can further their skills.

Students will acquire reading and writing proficiency in English and Algonquian languages, computer literacy in Western syllabics and proficiency in Eastern syllabics, internet research skills, multimedia and desktop publishing skills, plus work experience in various settings.

One program stream will have Aboriginal fluent students train in language instruction and translating and interpreting, while the other stream will have non-fluent students train in Aboriginal language planning.
