Students successfully completing the first year of Civil Engineering Technology who choose the Geomatics Technology option will study the principles and applications of surveying for careers in:
- Design and construction of civil works
- Computer assisted surveying applications and drafting
- Mapping, photogrammetry, and cartography
- Land surveying and measurement
- Project inspections, layout, and supervision
- Technical sales and support
Geomatics Technology Competencies are more advanced courses in which the Generic Competencies are used together in specific problem oriented contexts of application and design. These include route design, terrain interpretation, town planning, photogrammetry, cartography, geographical information systems, theory and use of instruments, advanced survey computations, astronomy, control surveys, and legal surveys. An applied research project is incorporated into final term courses.
