Graduates may begin working at an entry-level with retailers and distributors of paint, wall coverings, flooring, fabric, window coverings, cabinetry, furnishings, lighting fixtures, and kitchen and bathroom fixtures. With additional business skills, students may be able to build a consulting business with homeowners and/or homebuilders, or work with other companies specializing in residential decorating services.
Human Resource Services Development Canada (HRSDC) currently classifies interior decorators in the National Occupational Codes under Retail Salespersons and Sales Clerks (NOC 6421).
