Description

After successfully completing the first year of Civil Engineering Technology you can choose the Architectural/Engineering Technology option to study the principles and applications of engineering and architectural construction systems for careers in:

  • Architectural systems & design
  • Building systems engineering & design
  • Computer-assisted design and drafting
  • Site inspection and supervision
  • Construction project administration and management
  • Technical sales and support
  • Building sciences and environmental systems

In the Architectural/Engineering Technology option you take more advanced courses and build on the competencies you gained in first year. The focus is on application and design. Courses include subjects such as:

  • Residential and commercial programming, design and construction
  • Project estimation, administration, and management
  • Structural analysis
  • Timber, steel, masonry and reinforced concrete design
  • Soil and foundations
  • Building science
  • Mechanical systems
  • Architectural environmental systems, plumbing, lighting, electrical, and sound control
  • Green building practices
  • Construction materials and systems
  • Material testing
