Introduction to Business
Overview
     
  • Five-month certificate 
  • Available to students who are currently working toward obtaining their Mature Student High School Diploma or wish to obtain an Introduction to Business Certificate at a Red River College Adult Learning Centre. 
  • Delivered at one campus:
    • Winkler Campus, Winkler, Manitoba (entry dates vary)
  • Credit transfer opportunities: Advance credits in select College programs, Mature Student High School Diploma (MSHSD)
  • No tuition is charged for these courses for citizens or permanent residents of Canada. You pay a materials fee of $20 per course, except for high school graduates who have 35 credits or more.  In this case the fee is no longer subsidized and you will be required to pay $302 per course. All Grade 12 courses, with the exception of SEMR-0229 WHMIS Workshop, may be applied to the Mature Student High School Diploma.

Description
This program prepares you for entry into selected RRC programs in the Business and Applied Arts and Sciences areas by developing skills in English, business mathematics, accounting, fundamentals of Canadian business, and computer applications.  You may choose to take individual courses; it is not necessary to take the complete program.

The following courses are dual credits:

•ACCT-1971 Financial Accounting 1
•BUSA-1093 Introduction to Business
•COMP-1975 Business Computing

They are credits for both the high school diploma and specified RRC programs. You may take any one or all of the above dual credit courses in addition to your other 40S courses. 

You will meet with the Program Manager to develop your own personal learning plan.

The Essentials Mathematics textbook is rented to you by the bookstore at approximately 10% of the cost of the book.

You must also purchase textbooks for the Business Computing and Financial Accounting courses.
