Nurse Prescriber
Admission Requirements

Applicants must be active practicing members of the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).

To apply, applicants must complete and submit an application form and the non-refundable/non-transferable application fee. 

Applicants must also complete and/or demonstrate the following:

1. Related clinical experience

  • Submit a completed Verification of Clinical Practice form confirming clinical practice hours (a minimum of two years or equivalent (3600 hours) full-time clinical practice within the past 5-years is required) due within 30-days of applying

2. Current and Completed Immunizations and Testing

  • Review the RRC Immunization/Testing Information
  • Submit proof of up-to-date and completed immunization via the Student Immunization Admission (SIA) Form
  • Due within 30 days of applying
  • Some immunizations and tests may take up to seven months to complete
  • We strongly advise you complete the following steps before applying to this program to ensure your application is not cancelled due to incomplete immunizations:
      • Complete your immunizations
      • Have your health care provider complete and sign the SIA form
      • Visit RRC's Health Services Centre with your completed SIA Form. A Health Services staff member will confirm whether your immunizations are up-to-date and complete or if you have outstanding immunization requirements. They will also provide estimated timelines for completing outstanding immunization requirements
      • Submission of the SIA form does not guarantee your immunizations are up-to-date and complete. RRC's Health Services will review your submitted SIA form to determine if you meet this requirement

4. Pre-requisites

  • All applicants must have received credit for a Pharmacology (3 credits) and a Health Assessment (3 credits) course with a minimum grade of 70% achieved as part of their nursing education program completed in the past five years. For the 2017/2018 academic year, the nursing program must have been completed on or after January 1, 2012.
  • For those applicants who have not completed the above noted course requirements within the timeframe provided, please either:
    • Submit proof of successful completion of a 3-credit nursing pharmacology course and a 3-credit nursing health assessment course from another recognized post-secondary institution or,
    • Enroll in NURS-2011 Pharmacology for Nurses and NURS-2012 Health Assessment/Prescriber offered by the Red River College School of Continuing Education
